Load Test

Load tests are performed for structures or specific portions of structures.

Load Test

For example, a bridge can be load tested by installing optical strands and extensometer on the bridge.  A load with known weight (weighed fully loaded dump truck) will then be driven over the bridge and the response of the bridge measured.  The data collected is then analyzed and reported.  The data can help establish a safe loading limit for the bridge, the structural behavior of the bridge can be determined and this can be used for further analysis by a Structural Engineer.
